11-11-11, a special date

11-11-11...this is surely an uncommon date, millions of websites have been talking about this and also books, tv and Wikipedia.
I don't know if this date holds any special significance for the world but I know that this day has, for sure, holds a special meaning to me...cause my very best friend and love of my live was born on 11-11 and therefore, this is his big day !. Usually I speak fashion, and I am still doing it...but this post is a great chance to celebrate the man I love and also Fashion and Cookies' official photographer, the man I am proud to call my husband !.
After all, it's also thanks to him that I opened this blog, he encouraged me to do it, he knows well how much I like to express myself, how much I love fashion and how much friends, family and some mutual people we know used to talk about fashion with me, listening with curiosity to my speeches about that thing I must buy to be absolutely satisfied or just grinning at one of my outfits.
We met at work, when he was just a serious, professional and even grumpy expert and I can say with no doubt that my weird matches had a role in making his heart melt ;-). He admitted to being curious to see me in the morning cause I always had that personal touch in my clothes that made me stand out and he could tell about my mood from my clothes.
Now he's the one coming with me for a shopping spree - a hero for this - waiting for me patiently when I decide to try almost all the clothes a shop has...the one shaking his head when something doesn't look too good and also the one smiling when he sees me all happy just cause I found what I was looking for. He knows me well, and yet, he thinks I rock anyway ! - That's love !. Happy birthday E., love, if this is "fashion" then you're the "cookie" !.

11-11-11...non è sicuramente una data comune, ne hanno già parlato milioni di siti, oltre ai libri, alla tv e a Wikipedia. Io non so se questa data abbia un qualche arcano significato speciale per il mondo, so solo che questa data ha, sicuramente, un significato speciale per me...perché il mio migliore amico nonché amore della mia vita è nato proprio l'11-11 e, pertanto, questo è il suo grande giorno !.
Di solito parlo di moda, e continuo a farlo...ma questo post è una grande occasione per celebrare l'uomo che amo nonché fotografo ufficiale di Fashion and Cookies, l'uomo che sono orgogliosa di poter chiamare mio marito !.
Dopotutto, è anche grazie a lui che ho aperto questo blog, mi ha incoraggiata a farlo, conosce la mia voglia di esprimermi e quanto io ami la moda e ha visto che amici, familiari e altri conoscenti comuni hanno sempre parlato di moda con me, ascoltando divertiti i miei discorsi su un articolo che avrei dovuto avere assolutamente per sentirmi soddisfatta, li ha visti sorridere incuriositi guardando uno dei miei outfits.
Noi ci siamo conosciuti sul lavoro, quando lui era soltanto un serio, professionale e anche abbastanza scontroso esperto e posso affermare con sicurezza che i miei improbabili abbinamenti hanno contribuito allo sciogliersi del suo cuore ! ;-).
Ha ammesso che era curioso di vedermi la mattina perché avevo sempre almeno un dettaglio particolare che si faceva notare nel mio abbigliamento e poteva anche capire il mio stato d'animo dagli abiti che avevo scelto.
Ora è anche colui che viene a fare shopping con me - un vero eroe per questo - aspettando pazientemente quando decido di provarmi quasi tutto il negozio...colui che scuote la testa quando qualcosa non mi sta bene e quello che ride guardandomi sprizzare felicità da tutti i pori quando ho trovato ciò che stavo cercando.
Mi conosce bene ed eppure, gli piaccio lo stesso...questo è Amore ! Buon compleanno E., amore, se questa è "fashion", per me tu sei il "cookie" !.

I love my shoes !

I've got interviewed by Design with love about one of my fave subjects of all times...shoes ! I am such a shoeaholic...since the interview is in italian, I am gonna translate it in english for my blog. Italian readers can go directly there to read it !. I am also gonna show you a few pics of my shoe closet.

Sono proprio una maniaca delle scarpe...siccome l'intervista è in italiano, ho pensato di tradurla in inglese per il mio blog e anche di mostrarvi delle foto diverse della mia scarpiera. Who's behind your blog ?
My name's Valentina, I live in a lovely town on the Adriatic sea dreaming to be in New York City !. I have a degree in Economics and work in an Office, where my collegues every morning have fun looking at my oufits even before saying hello, lol.
I think I am a creative person, a dreamer but down to earth at the same time, stubborn and ironic. Besides blogging on my blog "Fashion and Cookies" I enjoy going to the cinema, dancing, watching my fave tv series in original language, travelling, discovering new places, new restaurants, I have a passion for interior design, make up and of course, shopping in general !.
I don't have a usual style, I like to change but I mostly like to dress up smart, with a personal touch to each outfit. I am also a nerd, a Star Trek fan, an Internet fan and the last news about technology, a nerd loving to dress up well, with high heels and well done make up ;-), with a handbag always too full with necessary items !.

How long have you been interested in fashion ?
I have always been into fashion ! Since when I was a kid I loved to look up the fashion magazines and one of my fave games was cutting up the pics from Vogue and making up collages with them...besides the fact my Barbie dolls were always so stylishly dressed ! I've been encouraged also from my boyfriend (now husband) to open up the blog, not cause I think I am an expert in fashion, but mostly to have fun and share with my followers or simply readers, my passion about clothes, shoes and trends.
Having a blog is like having many "friends" to show off your latest buys or outfits, and it's what we all do with our close friends and that thanks to the blogs network we can do with many people from all over the world, sharing ideas, proposals and styles !.

Why do women love shoes that much ?
I think the right shoes can, much more than other items, make the right outfit, it makes us look thinner, it makes us women more self conscious and attractive, it can make us feel more "diva" with men and, let's say it, compared to other women, too ;-).

What is your fave kind of shoe and why ?
I love high heeled shoes, 12 or 15 cm. and since there's the plateau trend they're even comfier to walk on. I like to feel taller and more feminine ! I love the classic "pumps" but I have to say I am also a big fan of ankle boots, always with very high heels, cause I can wear them for a longer time without feeling tired, even when I have to walk a lot.

Do you prefer having loads of shoes for a cheap price but low quality changing them often or a few shoes with a high quality ?
I have loads of shoes and I always look for good quality. I don't buy fake leather shoes that can be harmful for my feet or made with bad components. I admit I cannot go cheap on shoes but I also cannot buy only a couple of expensive ones for each season, cause I like to change them often and I always find a good excuse to buy one more pair of shoes and add them to my collection !. "I need it" "That's what I wanted !" "I only wanna try it !" are my usual phrases when I get fascinated by the right pair of shoes.

What do you look for in a pair of shoes ?
The beauty...I have to like the model, the color and also the fabric/leather.
Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the shoe-owner - I like to think back at my grandma's look when I was sporting a pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes, I was so proud of them yet she said they looked like Dr Frankenstein's shoes ! I admit I am attracted by the classic shapes, something like 50s style, but also from the really weird futuristic ones and from the 70s style shapes, very "Disco Inferno".

Is there a relationship between shoes and mood ?
They say "the lower I feel, the higher my heel", and I like to feel better by buying a new pair of high heeled shoes !.

Is there a color you have more often in your shoe rack ?
I have always had my weak spot with black color but I have bought many colored shoes and now it looks like a rainbow.

What is the added value you perceive in Italian shoes?
For sure it's the quality leather, the little details...there's nothing worse than a pair of shoes that seem to be pretty only when you look from far away but that when you look with attention are badly cut and sewed !.

Is it possible to express sensuality through the shoes ? How ?
I think a few men can resist the message of a fetish heel or strings around a beautiful ankle...and a woman knows it !.

How do you choose the shoes for your outfits ?
I love shoes so much that often I buy them before and only after I think about how wearing them, anyway I open my shoes closet and I can find different shoes....I have so many that in order to have them in my closet I have to ask my parents to keep all the other seasons' shoes in their house, so that I have only the ones I use for the season in my closet. I could never fit all my shoes in the closet, never !.

Can you think of some other sector linked to creativity (music, comics, literature, cinema, design, ...) where shoes play an important role?
I think shoes have an important role in any sector linked to image...in the movies, you can think about the important role of clothes...in the music, we have artists like Lady Gaga, part of her (deserved) success is also on the fashion side (I cannot immagine her without a pair of extravagant shoes, probably wedges).

What will be your next pair of shoes or a future trend that you expect?
I expect glittery details on the shoes (i.e. Miu Miu shoes), the trekking style boots with high heels and python prints/leather...I will surely buy something like that and even what else !.

Home is where the heart is

Dear readers, how are you ? I am fine, I just got back from a five days holiday in Sorrento with my husband, we had the excuse of going back there to get our wedding album :). I have to say I am so satisfied with the result, the wedding album is printed as a book (pics are not attached on the pages, they're printed on them) and there's many pics I really like ! I wanted to share a couple of them with you, of course I am only gonna put my pics for a matter of privacy, LOL.
I spent a lovely 15th of August on the beach, very relaxing, with good food, music and of course company ! I have to say I felt very much at home, and since home is where the heart is I must admit a piece of my heart belongs to Sorrento !. I am gonna publish a few outfits of these past days soon, also of my trip to Positano. I bought something new for the autumn already ;), two Chanel style jackets that are so cute and a nice dress ! I am falling in love with green and copper tones, I am even planning to get myself a green coat for this winter (the Max Mara window shop was so tempting !).

Cari lettori, come state ? Io bene, sono appena tornata da una vacanza di cinque giorni a Sorrento con mio marito, avevamo la scusa di ritirare l'album di nozze ;). Devo dire che una volta viste le foto "ufficiali" sono rimasta molto soddisfatta del risultato, inoltre l'album è stato preparato in stile "book", ovvero le foto non sono attaccate sull'album ma stampate direttamente sulle pagine, l'effetto è davvero molto bello. Volevo condividerne qualcuna con voi, ovviamente ci sono solo io nelle foto per una questione di privacy per gli altri, LOL.
Ho trascorso un ferragosto molto bello, molto rilassante sulla spiaggia, con buon cibo, musica e ottima compagnia ! Devo dire di essermi sentita come se fossi a casa, se infatti la casa è dove è il cuore, devo ammettere che un pezzo del mio cuore appartiene a Sorrento !. Pubblicherò alcuni outfit indossati nei giorni passati nei prossimi post, anche della mia gita a Positano. Ho anche fatto qualche acquistino per l'autunno ! Due giacchine stile Chanel molto carine e un abitino delizioso, mi sto fissando con i toni del verde e del rame, sto anche pensando di comprare un cappotto verde per il prossimo inverno (la vetrina di Max Mara era così tentatrice !) .

I have to say when the make up artist entered in my hotel room, she got so surprised when she saw all the make up I had taken with me ! She said I had an arsenal of make up products, lol !. Well, she taught me a simple yet important lesson...she kept saying I had to blend the eye shadows and liner on my eyes...so I realized that blending is very important when it comes to make up so I have to be a little more patient when I do my make up ! Does it mean in the morning I have to wake up earlier, I am afraid ? :-)

Devo dire che quando la make up artist è entrata nella mia stanza d'albergo, è rimasta sorpresa dalla quantità di trucchi che avevo a disposizione, ha detto che sembrava un arsenale, lol ! Beh, mi ha insegnato una lezione semplice ma fondamentale...continuava a dire che occorreva sfumare bene gli ombretti e la matita sugli occhi...ho capito che sfumare è molto importante per una buona riuscita nel trucco e devo essere più paziente quando mi trucco ! Vorrà dire che al mattino mi occorrerà svegliarmi prima, ho paura... :-)

Celebrating my magic month

Dear readers, I was thinking that July has been such a fantastic month to me ! My wedding, my stay in Sorrento (the place we chose for our wedding, just cause it was so romantic), the best holidays of my life so far in New York, the city of my dreams ! I like to think back about the past month and I have many pics to share with it cause I didn't blog much when I was busy living my magic days ;-). Now I have a few days free from work ahead of me and I am surely going to do my best to relax and have fun, but of course I am aware that August can't beat the awesomeness of July to me !...In order to fight this post-awesomeness sensation, I was thinking about getting myself a new bag, if it can't make me miss July less it surely doesn't make me feel worse, what do you think about it ? ;-)). Cari lettori, stavo pensando che il mese di Luglio è stato un mese proprio fantastico per me ! Il mio matrimonio, la permanenza a Sorrento (il posto da noi scelto per il matrimonio, solo perché lo trovavamo romantico), la migliore vacanza fatta fino ad ora a New York, la città dei miei sogni !. Mi piace ripensare al mese passato e ho diverse foto da condividere con voi solo ora perché quando ero occupata a vivere i miei momenti magici non ho avuto troppo tempo e voglia di bloggare ;). Ora ho solo pochi giorni liberi per rilassarmi e divertirmi e di sicuro farò di tutto per viverli al meglio, ma sono ovviamente perfettamente consapevole che il mese di Agosto non potrà mai essere bello come lo è stato Luglio per me !... Al fine di combattere questa sensazione di post-meraviglia e non deprimersi, stavo pensando di comprarmi una bella borsa nuova, se non riuscirà a farmi mancare di meno il mese di Luglio di sicuro non mi potrà far stare peggio, voi che ne pensate ? ;-)).
Prima di iniziare a camminare sul Viale dei Ricordi, vi vorrei ricordare che cliccando su ciascuna foto è possibile vederla ingrandita, mi sento di scriverlo dato che mi capita di leggere commenti dove mi si dice che posto foto troppo piccole, lol ! One of the best things I did in New York was going to see a Musical in Broadway ! I saw Mamma Mia ! and it was awesome, then I saw Priscilla - Queen of desert and it was really incredible, amazing, what an experience ! I had the chance to take a pic and have my playbill signed by the awesome Nick Adams - he is so talented ! :-)

Una delle cose migliori che ho fatto a New York è stata andare a Broadway per i Musical ! Ho visto Mamma Mia ! ed è stato meraviglioso, poi Priscilla - Regina del deserto ed è stato incredibile, stupefacente, una esperienza bellissima ! Ho avuto anche la possibilità nel dopo spettacolo di avere l'autografo e una foto con Nick Adams, uno dei protagonisti di Priscilla, ha talento da vendere ! :-)

Arm Party

Here I am, with a tiny post made to take part to another lovely Bloggers Do It better challenge :). This time the theme was "arm party", so that means bracelets, bracelets and...more bracelets ! Here here there are a few close ups of my arms. I am just so in love with wrap bracelets lately and I have bought quite a few of them ! Plus, I always wear my Tiffany bracelets and also my gold Fope bracelets !. I couldn't go out without my bracelets and rings, instead I never wear earrings. My ears aren't even pierced ! What about you instead ?.


Eccomi quì con un piccolo post dedicato al nuovo carinissimo "compito" di Bloggers Do It better :) Questa volta il tema era "arm party", ovvero bracciali, bracciali e ancora...bracciali ! Ecco un paio di foto in primo piano dei miei polsi, si capirà che ultimamente sono andata in fissa con i braccialetti cosìddetti "wrap", che si avvolgono al braccio e che sembrano più bracciali in uno ! Inoltre, indosso sempre i miei braccialetti di Tiffany e quelli nei tre colori dell'oro di Fope !. Non potrei mai uscire senza braccialetti e anelli, invece non indosso mai orecchini, non ho neanche i buchi alle orecchie ! Che mi dite di voi invece ?.
